I finally found my pluots at the farmers market yesterday! I have been waiting for so, so long for them to show up.
[For the unacquainted: pluots are a DELICIOUS plum-apricot hybrid. Try them. You will love them.]
… some souvenirs from recent trips — sea glass from various locales, pebbles from Moonstone Beach …
… bitty sand dollars from Morro Bay …
… a thrifted green elephant …
… and my reflection in the window of the cutest cabin ever in Carmel.
[that last one was a Green Wednesday highlight]
Today is green for Poppytalk Spring Color Week!
The last one is of the feral parrots in San Francisco that the book and documentary The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill are based on. They come down from the hill to nibble at the cherry blossoms in the spring and it is like nothing you have ever experienced. The movie’s pretty darn good, too, highly recommended if you can’t make it over to downtown SF.
Discovered several of these today smacking their fat little lips as they took giant bites of my tomatoes. Then they turned and looked at me and I RAN.
Bright side: hearing stories about how friends remember their parents dealing with hornworms [paying the kids a quarter per, throwing them them against the fence, shooting them with a BB gun] but I am still too scared to ever return to my yard.
